Link Between Cyberporn and Computer Viruses. February 6, 2006

I have found it very interesting that hackers (malicious people on the internet, trying to cause harm) mostly use pornographic content (pictures, etc.) to harm peoples computers with viruses and things of that nature.  Here is just one recent article talking about the connection between viruses and pornographic content.   This article goes on to describe the Kama Sutra virus.  One particularly interesting fact that the article brings up is that many businesses were affected by this virus, which leads to the assumption that many business peoples clicked on these links/pictures hoping to see pornography.  This is just one more example that much of the world participates in the viewing of, or the action of pornographic relations.  Don’t be ignorant and think that it is just U.S. people who create viruses, it is world problem.   This article from CNN.com describes the fact that enormous numbers of businesses suffer from viruses daily.  One more thing that this illustrates is that pornography is not just for the rich or poor.  In this situation, the wealthy business people are the ones looking at porn, but in many other situations, the poor engage in the same sort of thing.  One example of a different class (other than business people) engaging in pornographic activity is in the U.S. soldiers in Iraq.  They took pictures of Iraqi prisoners partially and/or fully naked in “compromising” positions.  This is an example of another type of porn by different types of peoples.  Though cyberporn may be a phenomenon for the wealthier people, (the poorest of people cannot afford a computer) porn in general is something that has been a part of all social classes for a long time.

Sexual Exploitation of Women and Children: A Response to Donna Hughes’ Article February 5, 2006

It is seen in this article that women and children are increasingly being misused and abused in the pornography industry.  A huge growing problem is the mail-order-bride business.  Foreign women are tricked into coming to the US.  They are promised jobs, but what they get is marriage, where they are insubordinate to their “owners”.  It must be very hard for a foreign woman to make it on her own in the US without being able to speak our language, and no prior work experience.  With the rise of users on the Internet, this type of trade has become increasingly larger.  One underlying theme concerning Pornography and technology is that the pornography business will adopt new technological methods in order to make a better profit.  I find it very interesting that every aspect of pornography that I learn about and read about is somehow tied back to this phenomenon.

It is seen in this article that the pornography industry is very powerful and very profitable.  In the section where Hughes discusses CNET, it is seen that CNET announced “snap on line”, which was a search engine that didn’t find anything pornographic in its searches.  It is seen that less than one year later, CNET announced that “snap on line” would now include pornographic searches.  The reason was that many of the “snap on line” users were looking for pornography using “snap on line” anyway.  The porn industry is so powerful that “snap” needed to include porn because porn gives them a lot of advertising money.  With this in mind, it seems as though the porn industry is extremely powerful with a lot of clout.  To me, it doens’t look like the illegal and immoral sex trade of women and children has an end in sight!

1982 NEWS FLASH :Howard Stern revolutionizes radio and pornography at the same time February 4, 2006

Once again, my Blog will focus on Howard Stern. Howard Stern started a new type of radio where instead of him being a “straight deejay” he mixed it up, talking on the radio waves as well.

Howard started on the radio waves in college around 1975, at his college radio station. He did a show there asking everyone to confess all their sins. He was kicked off the radio after his first show. Stern then went on to work at many different radio stations over time, each of them not being able to deal with his pornographic and “childish” humor. Finally, Stern landed a job at WNBC in New York City in 1982. It is my belief that with his stay at this radio station, he really changes the way people listen to radio. Also, it is my belief and this can be proved if one listens to Howard’s broadcasts, (now on SIRIUS Satellite radio) that Howard transformed the radio waves from just music and some tame talk, to raunchy, disgusting, pornographic, politically incorrect waves. I will be focusing on the pornographic aspect in my brief discussion below:

The Howard Stern show should definitely be considered pornographic. His content consists of mainly women who come into his station to show themselves off. Besides the naked women, Stern and his “Rat Pack” use a lot of dirty humor. They always talk about penises, vagina’s, butts, and breasts. The whole demeanor of the show should not be heard by little kids. The fact that kids should not listen to something does not define it as pornographic, but together with the other aspects of his show, this would help to define his show as pornographic.

Howard Stern started this pornography on the radio himself. Just because we can’t see it (which now we can on InDemand) on the radio does not mean it isn’t pornography. Pornography is defined as , “Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.” at Dictionary.com. Howard would fall under the “other material” category. Anyway, Howard started this pornography revolution on the radio waves. This had never been done before, and after many hardships concerning his profession, Howard Stern finally prevailed to bring porn to radio. As to my knowledge, he was the first person to do it, and he was unbelievably successful in doing this. This can clearly be seen with his signing a $100 million contract with Satellite radio recently. Howard Stern was attacked legally by the FCC for his “indecent comments”. He was fined repeatedly while on terrestrial radio. The legality of what he was doing was never questioned, the problem was what he was saying. He was not allowed to be so sexually explicit on radio due to the fact that little kids could listen. He had to use innuendos and other strategies to get his point across without being fined by the FCC. Finally, Howard got sick of the ridiculous FCC fines and announced on October 6, 2005 that he would move to satellite radio in January of 2006. Here he promised his listeners no more FCC regulation, so he could really do his show the way he wanted to do it. There are no FCC regulations on Satellite radio because it is a paid service. Just as is HBO and the Playboy channel on regular television. There is a new debate going on that people want the FCC to sensor satellite radio, but I cannot see this ever happening for the reason I stated before, it is a paid service.
This entire discussion proves the fact that if a new form of technology arises, and you want to be successful, pornography is the way to go. There is a huge market for porn out there. Many people you wouldn’t expect to engage in porn, do. Howard Stern did just this, and Hugh Heffner did this as well. Both these individuals took porn to a new level. They both has visions, and because of that, they are very successful today, as well as pioneers in their respective fields.
